The Paris News, July 14, 1977. Dewey J. Preston, Sr., Rt 4, Paris, died at 2:30p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was a dairy farmer. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m.,Friday in Leverett and Steel Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will be in Lake Creek Cemetery. Mr. Preston was born Oct. 22, 1898 in Miller County Ark., a son of T.J. Preston, Sr. and Octavia (Mundine) Preston. He married Johnnie Mae Alexander in 1941 in Bonham. He was a member of the Midway Christian Church and a member of the American Dairy Association. He had lived in Lamar County since 1912. Survivors include his wife; seven sons, D.J. Preston, Jr., James T. Preston, Leroy Preston, John R. Preston, and James P. Preston, all of Paris, Douglas Preston of Orville and the Rev. Ray S. Preston of Lufkin; four daughters, Mrs. Mae Marie Burket of Irving, Mrs. Mary Ruth Vaughn of Powderly and Mrs. Ann Lamb and Mrs. Gloria Fitzgerald, both of Paris; three brothers, J.T. "Bob" Preston, Rt.4. of Paris and W.A. Preston and S.S. Preston, both of Paris; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A son, Percy Sterling Preston, died in 1936.
