William Hunt (III) was commissioned as Captain of the Charles City Militia between October 20, 1691 and April 29, 1692. At Charles City County court held at Westover on January 03, 1692/3, "Capt. William Hunt" was assigned to serve as overseer of the highway from "north Wynoke." Hunt was a justice of the quorum by 1699 and achived the rank of Major about 1705.

William Hunt's (III) father William Hunt, Jr., deeded the same tract of land in James City County to repatented 215 acres of the 300 acres, "the said 215 acres of land being aprt of a greater pcell purchased by his father from Rice Hoe on October 03, 1656.
