Donald C. Hathaway, 72, 123 N. Maple Ave., died Tuesday of heart failure at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Donald Hathaway was born to Holis and Effie [Dickey] Hathaway in Union County. On Sept. 30 1942, he married Cecelia Rickert in Gilbert. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a charter member of the Loyal order of the Moose.
Survivors include three sons, Paul Hathaway of Greendale, Wis., John Hathaway of Ames and Mark Hathaway of San Francisco, Calif.; one daughter Mary Ann Smith of Gilbert; seven grandchildren; two sisters; and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, with scripture service at 7 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends following the service until 9 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Skilled Care of Mary Greeley Medical Center or the United Seniors Center, and they can be mailed to 123 N. Maple Ave., Ames, Iowa 50010.
