The funeral for Harry Graves Boyers, 81, Route 1, Port Republic, wfll be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home. The Revs. Randy Simmons and Jack Glover will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

Mr. Boyers died Nov. 11, 1996, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Hanisonburg. He had not been in good health for a number of years. He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Otho D. and Ollie Virginia Lawson Boyers.

He attended school in Rockingham County and lived most of his life in the area. He retired from Merck & Co. after 35 years of service and raised bird dogs and quail.

Mr. Boyers was a member of the Grottoes Church of the Brethren, the Shenandoah Moose Lodge, Melrose Hunt Club and had been active in the Rockingham County Baseball League.

On Dec. 9, 1939, he married Mildred Leona Adkins, who died Feb. 24, 1995. Surviving are two sons, Harry G. Boyers II, Crimora, and Kenneth M. Boyers, Port Republic; three daughters, Barbara B. Eckard, Staunton, Betty B. Slack, Waynesboro, and Sandra B. Roach, Elkton; two brothers, Warren Boyers, Bridgewater, and Grattan Boyers, Pennsylvania; five sisters, Frances Carrier, Bridgewater, Agnes Campbell and Maxine Thomas, both of Harrisonburg, Mildred Davis, Lacey Springs, and Janet Blosser, Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad.
