Born in Rome New York, shortly after graduation Joe enlisted in the Army to fight in the war as his father John had done in WW1.

Joe was a paratrooper, serving in Co C 506th Paratroopers of the 101st Airborn Division in WW II. His plane was shot down 6 miles from the airfield in Rachen Holland by the Germans.

His decorations include :

3 Bronze Stars for service in the Normandy Campaign
Good Conduct Medal
American Campaign Ribbon
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign medal
WWII Victory Metal
Combat Infantry Badge
Netherlands Orange Lanyard
Sharpshooters Badge

He and my mother were born just two weeks apart, and were referred to as the twins. They were very close while growing up.

He was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Rome NY.
