Arthur Baker, 97, Edgerton, died Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the Edgebrook Care facility in Edgerton.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Arthur was born on Nov. 7, 1907 to Hessel and Allie (Roetman) Baker in Edgerton where he was raised and attended country school.

He married Jeanette Schmidt. Following their marriage they resided on several farms in the Edgerton area until they purchased a farm four miles southwest of Edgerton where they farmed for nearly 40 years. They moved into town in 1978.

Jeanette preceded Arthur in death on Oct. 2, 1990. Arthur continued to live at home until recently.

He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton, where he served as elder. He served on the Edgerton Christian School Board, the Edgerton Co-op Board and volunteered with several other agencies throughout the years. He was elected to the Pipestone County Board of Commissioners and served in that capacity for 16 years.
