Hello and thank you for all your work. I would like to share with you what I know of her from the family research I've been working on. Emma Rose Root is indeed the mother of Maxwell Homer Chambers. She was born Emma Rose Jenkins, daughter of William L Jenkins and Emeline Belieu, 9 Oct 1885. I have her death from the Oregon Death Index as 1 Jul 1967. She was married 3 times, her last husband Cecil A. Root. Her first husband, Fred Homer Gross, was the father of Maxwell. Emma, Fred and young Maxwell are all shown living together as a family on the 1910 US Census. By 1920, she is remarried to John Chambers. At that time, her son Maxwell has not yet changed his last name and is listed on the census as John's step-son. Apparently, Maxwell choses later in life to change his last name to Chambers. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Amy Butler Ghozeil
