He was born March 2, 1918, in Lodi. He began a private business as "Mr. Fixit" in Clarksdale after retiring from teaching. Mr. Cox was a member of the Clarksdale Lions Club and Pine Forest United Methodist Church in Dublin. He died Jan. 21, 2010, at his home.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Cox McPhail of Highlands, N.C.; two stepchildren, Cindy Murphy of Opelika, Ala., and Scott Kilgo of Dublin; two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
