Services for William Purvis "W.P." Cox, 91, of Dublin, Ga., formerly of Clarksdale, were Jan. 23, 2010, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Clarksdale. Burial was in Eupora Cemetery.
He was born March 2, 1918, in Lodi. He began a private business as "Mr. Fixit" in Clarksdale after retiring from teaching. Mr. Cox was a member of the Clarksdale Lions Club and Pine Forest United Methodist Church in Dublin. He died Jan. 21, 2010, at his home.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Cox McPhail of Highlands, N.C.; two stepchildren, Cindy Murphy of Opelika, Ala., and Scott Kilgo of Dublin; two grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
