Funeral services for Leroy J. Leger, 73 was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 1997 in Johnson Funeral Home.

The Rev. Charles Dubois officiated. Burial was in Squire's Memorial Cemetery in Ragley.

Mr. Leger died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, October 12, 1997 in a local hospital. (As stated by his Son, Roger, his Dad passed away on October 11, 1997, however medical staff did not come to his side until after midnight therefore stating the date of as being October 12, 1997. however his passing date is actually October 11, 1997)

A native of Bosco, he lived in Ragley, Louisiana for the past 35 years. He was the retired president of the International Association of Longshoremen and a member of International Longshoremen's Association Local 1214. He also served in U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Nellwyin Granger Leger; one son Roger Leger of Ragley; three daughters, Doris Leger of Lafayette, Velma Meaux of Lake Charles and Susan O'Neal of Fanette, Texas; one brother, Lenray Leger of Carencro; three sisters, Eucharist Foret of Port Arthur, Texas, Levoys Venable of Spring Texax and Mercedes Monaco of Port Arthur, Texas, six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
