Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Lizzie "Grandma" Robinson Sunday Afternoon
A very large crowd of relatives, neighbors and friends gathered at the Holly Grove Missionary Baptist Church Sunday afternoon to pay their last respects to one of Monroe County's oldest and best-loved citizens.
Mrs. Lizzie Robinson, better known to everyone as "Grandma Robinson" passed away Friday, July 13, in the Stuttgart hospital. She had just celebrated her 95th birthday a week earlier.
Grandma Robinson was born in 1867 in Thebes, Illinois, Alexander County. She and her husband, the late J. L. Robinson, came to Arkansas, first settling at Anna and Paragould Arkansas, then moving to Monroe County where they lived for over forty-seven years. Mr. Robinson preceded his wife in death in July of 1934
Had he lived they would have been married nearly 75 years. Mrs. Robinson made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lola Figart, at Maddox Bay.
She was the mother of eight children. Two daughters, May and Nell are deceased.
Survivors include two other daughters besides Mrs. Figart, Mrs. C Secrest of Sheridan; three sons, Ivy of Oak Grove, Louisiana, John of Texarkana, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery in Holly Grove with Brown Funeral Home of Clarendon in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Sonny Gordon, Billy Gerlach, Paul Ed Williamson, Glenn Spurlock, James Helm and Neil Harrod.
