John N. Chester, 66, affiliated the past 30 years as a driller for the Newark Stove Company, died unexpectedly Sunday at 2:10 a.m. in the home in 194 S. Fourth Street. Apparently in good health the past week, he suffered a stroke Saturday noon with death following a few hours later.
He was born May 22, 1875 in Newark, the son of the late John and Eliza Grass Chester. He is survived by his wife, Alma; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Cada of Granville and Miss Martha Chester of the home; a son, John B. Chester of the home; a brother, Samuel of Newark, and a sister, Mrs. Kate Dresback of Johnstown. One granddaughter also survives. A son, Sidney preceded him in death.
He was a member of St. John's Evangelical church and of Stove Mounters Union, Local No. 16.
The body may be viewed at the residence until Wednesday morning when it will be moved to the Criss Brothers Chapel where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. L.H. Lammers and Rev. W.A. Wilson will officiate, and burial will be made in Cedar Hill cemetery.
