SHORT, JOHN (DOD Feb 1936) an aged citizen living southeast of Stanley died Sunday night.
He had been in poor health for sometime. He was employed by the N&W as section foreman for years but had been on the retired list for sometime.
He was twice married, both wives being sisters, who were daughters of Abe Painter, deceased.
7 children were born to his first wife, Mrs. John Houser, Mrs. Fred Higgs, Amos Ashby & Edward Short all of Stanley, Tom Short of Richmond and Mrs. Mart Burns who died some years ago.
Interment in the 7th Day Adventist Church Cemetery.
First wife was Laura Virginia Painter daughter of Abraham & Nancy Aleshire Painter.
Second wife was Mary Caroline Painter daughter of Abraham & Nancy Aleshire Painter.
