Helen T. Montgomery, 85, died Tuesday, March 2nd in Shelbyville. She was a retired customer service clerk with Kentucky Utilities and a member of the Shelbyville First Christian Church where she had been active in the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was the founder of the Jenny Benedict Circle of the King's Daughters, a member of the Breast Cancer Support Group, and the Shelbyville Business and Professional Women. She was also Hospice volunteer, used to teach knitting classes at Lawson's Department Store, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served at least 10 years as a church camp counselor at Camp Otonka in Versailles and was the self-described "Mayor of Ashland Avenue"--having lived there for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred C. Tichenor, Sr. and Mattye Lee Stout Tichenor; and her sister, Virginia T. Shannon. She is survived by her sons; her brother; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and 9 nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Shannon Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Moffatt and the Rev. Jesse Baxter officiating. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There will also be a Jenny Benedict Circle service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery.
