He was the son of the late Tille James and Erminia Livingston Fogle. He retired after 77 years as a barber. In 1998, he received the certificate of appreciation from the SC State Board of Barber Examiners for 75 years of service. In 2000 he was honored in Washington, DC as South Carolina's oldest outstanding worker on the Green Thumb program. He was the oldest member of North Masonic Lodge No. 119; was a retired farmer and a member of North United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons, M. Lewis Fogle of Orangeburg; James R. Fogle and George A. Fogle, both Easley; a sister, Mrs. Monteieze Potts of Rogersville, TN; a brother, Baskin Fogle of Livingston; special friends, Etha Bair and Govan Golson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
