She was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Harry Leo and Ruby Lessie Mayes Purdham.
Mrs. Collins worked as an administrator with the National Academy of Sciences for 32 years.
On Feb. 9, 1962, she married Harold Ray Collins, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Alison Blythe Collins of Luray; a stepdaughter, Sharon Lee Collins of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Janet L. Gander of Luray a brother, Thomas A. Purdham of Woodbridge.
A graveside service was conducted at Graves Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
