On Sunday, February 25, 1973, beloved husband of the late Laura V. Strickland; father of Emily Newman, Laura Bell, Gladys Lanham, Elise Hoch, Dorothy Wilson, Rudy, Joseph, Howard, Albert and Melvin Strickland. He is also survived by 43 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Robert A. Mattingly Funeral Home, 131 11th st se (parking both sides) until Wednesday, February 18th at 9:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection offered at Mt. Calvary Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment Arlington National Cemetery. Prayers at funeral home, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

He was the father of 14 children. Thomas Linwood, Seaman third class), aged 17, was killed in action during WWII.
