David Brothers, a prominent resident of the Seventh ward, died at his home, 300 West Cherry street, a few minutes before noon Tuesday, at the advanced age of 86 years. His death was due to the infirmities of old age and not to any special ailment.
Mr. Brothers was born in Poland, O*., and came to New Castle to live four years ago. He leaves a wife, who before her marriage was Miss Martha Copps, one son, John W. Brothers, of this city, an engineer for the Pennsylvania company, and four daughters. The latter are: Mrs. Harry E. Pettigrew, Mrs. John B. Patterson, Mrs. Charles McFate and Miss Ella Brothers.
The deceased was a member of the Seventh Ward Presbyterian church and a man of noble Christian character. He was a staunch Democrat and always cast his ballot for candidates of that party.
Funeral Thursday afternoon at three o'clock from family residence. Interment at Valley View cemetery.
