Black Mountain – Dwain William Padgett, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 7, 2010 with his family by his side.

A native of Black Mountain, he was the son of the late Garland F. and Ira Roland Padgett. He was a dedicated member, Sunday School teacher, and Deacon of the Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Padgett worked at the Three Mountaineers furniture plant until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nellie Russell Padgett; daughters, Roxie P. Parton, and her husband, Bill, Shirley A. Padgett, and Cathy P. Haynie, and her husband, Robert all of Black Mountain and Linda P. Wells, and her husband, Ted of Asheville; Richard F. Padgett, and his wife, Jamie of Black Mountain; brother, Clarence Padgett of California; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 3:30 PM, Thursday at the Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Ward officiating. Burial will follow at the Padgett Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends, Thursday from 2:00 PM until the service hour at the church.
