On May 25, she was returned to the Salida hospital for further surgery, from which she made a rapid recovery. Saturday, June 6, she came to Westcliffe to recuperate with members of her family but became very ill Tuesday and had to be returned to the Salida hospital.

Stella, a daughter of James A. and Mary Case Ryan, was born at Silver Cliff on August 4, 1897. She was the youngest of eight children and spent the greater part of her life in Custer county. Abbott, county clerk, in the fall of 1942, whereupon she was appointed county clerk to fill the vacancy. She served Custer county as clerk and recorder until her retirement in 1952.

On February 3, 1953, she was married to Thomas Robert O'Haver of Salida, where she had since lived. Bob preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1969.
