Reverend McKee built the first Baptist Church at Antioch in 1872. This Church was made of logs, and Reverend McKee was it's first Pastor. He registered to vote in Houston County on April 15, 1872; his registration was numbered 813; the original of which now rests in the Crockett Houston County Museum. Amanda Elizabeth Shaw and James Levell McKee married on Mar 20, 1851 near Bellefontaine, MS. To this union four children were born, one boy and three girls: Nancy Clarissa, Thomas, who died at age two in MS, Harriet Alice & Dollie Anne. Nancy Clarissa b. April 15, 1852 in Miss., married Caleb Jeffus in Limestone Co., TX. April of 1868. To this union ten children were born. Ira and Jennie, the two oldest were born at the old home place. In about 1871 Jeffus family moved to Limestone Co. TX.; where a son, Needham, was born. He was killed by lighting at about age ten. When they came back from Limestone County, Grandfather McKee let them have the old palace back, having bought it from them then they left for Limestone County. A son, Fairchild, was born in 1874, died in infancy, and was buried in Limestone County. They were living at the old place when Lem was born in 1878. The land being in litigation, our Grandfather built across the creek where Lona was born in 1881. About this time Grandpa McKee bought the Kitty Miller place in Lovelady, and turned the old place over to the Jeffus family, also leaving them the livestock etc. The last of their children was born there, George, Ada, Leo and Hayne. George and Ada are the only surviving children (as of 1972) of this union; Clarissa died in 1925, buried Antioch Cemetery. Harriet Alice McKee born at Bellefontaine, Miss., Feb 15, 1860. Alice & T. Benjamin Perry married in the old home place on Nevils Prairie in 1877, and to this union ten children were born, three girls, & seven boys.
