Obituary

Died, on Saturday, the 22d of September 1855, Elder Thomas Boone, a minister and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For many years he presided over the deliberations of North District Association, Clark Co, KY, where his whole life and labors were spent in the service of his divine Master.

The character of his ministry was more than that of a "Barnabas" than a "Boanergus,"—for he was indeed a son of consolation to the sons and daughters of Zion. The humility of his life is strongly set forth in the following remark, which he made the last time I was with him. "My brother," said he, "I will now tell you why I have been all my life, so backward and bowed down in my ministerial duty. It is because I always felt poor and unprofitable. So unworthy even to sit at the feet of the children of God; it looks like that it was more than I dared do to stand up as a mouth for God."

But he is gone from us, and it remains for us to write "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."
