Jess Young, a prominent etired Wellington business man, died in St. Joseph's Hospital at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, February 27, after a long illness. He was 72 years of age. He and his wife established the Young Laundry here about 30 years ago, and operated it continuously for a period of 20 years. He had been in failing health much of the time since retiring. Mr. Young was born February 18, 1900, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., the son of Lee and Catherine Reynolds Young. He came to Collingsworth County w|th his family in 1905 and grew up in the Lillie community. For many years before entering business for himself, Mr. Young worked as a cotton ginner. He was married to Miss Nellie Gray on April 1, 1922. Mr. Young was a Baptist. Surviving Mr. Young are his wife; a daughter and son, Mrs. Duggie Jameson of Wellington and Jess Young, Jr., of Ft. Worth; a brother, Oliver Young of Wellington; and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Stockton of Pampa. There are three grandchildren.
