Mrs. E. S. Hale of Amarillo, for many years a Collingsworth county resident, died unexpectedly in an Amarillo hospital Tuesday evening, November 3. Although she had been ill a week, her condition was believed to be improved and she was preparing to return home when she was stricken.

Mrs. Hale, the former Claudia Bell Jones, was born at Evanston, Tennessee, March 4,1888. She and Mr. Hale were married n Smithville, Tennessee, November 25, 1905. He preceded her in death June 17, 1960.

The family moved here from Hardeman county, about 1940, and farmed in the Aberdeen community until they retired from farming in 1948. Four years ago Mrs. Hale moved to Amarillo.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving Mrs. Hale are four sons and two daughters: Fred Hale of Lubbock, Elmo Hale of Las Vegas, Nevada; George Hale of Wichita Falls, E. S. Hale, Jr. of Wellington; Mrs. Veta Scott of Fort Worth, and Mrs. Geraldine Hall of Amarillo.

Other survivors are a brother, George Jones of Koppert; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
