Mr. Simms was born in Alabama and came to this area in 1904. He was a retired farmer and rancher, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Panhandle. He was living at the Golden Spread Convalescent Home in Amarillo at the time of his death.
Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Earl O'Keefe of Amarillo and Mrs. George Reese of Roswell, N.M.; sons, Gary of Panhandle, Cecil of Amarillo, and G.H. of Clovis, N.M.; brothers, D.D. of Panhandle, Reedy of Picton, and M.O. of Laguna Hills, Calif.; and nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

PANHANDLE - Funeral services for George L. Simms, 93, prominent Carson County farmer and rancher, will be at 4:30 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Raymond Hall, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Poston Funeral Home.
Simms died Monday afternoon in the Golden Spread Convalescent Home, Amarillo. He was born in Alabama and came to the Panhandle from Arizona in 1904. He was a charter member of Panhandle First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, three sons, three brothers, nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
