Cecial Allred, 96, of Ackerly, died on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Larry Marshall and Rick Cunningham, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
He was born on January 5, 1914, in Knott, Texas and married Ruby Marie Hughes on July 25, 1934 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on August 2, 2001.
Cecial grew up in the Knott Community and attended school there.
He had farmed in the Knott and Ackerly area for 53 years.
He was a member of the Knott Church of Christ and had served as an elder at the Ackerly Church of Christ.
Cecial served on the Knott School Board, the Knott Coop Gin and the Howard County FSA Committee.
He was a charter member of the Howard County Sheriff's Posse, a member of the Friends of 4-H, the Martin County Heritage Museum and the Heritage Museum of Big Spring.
Survivors include his daughter, Joan Blagrave and husband, Derwood of Ackerly; two grandsons, Stan Blagrave and wife, Carla and Steve Blagrave and wife, Tracie all of Ackerly; three great granddaughters, Shelli Jordan and husband, Jonathan of Decatur, Krista Blagrave of Lubbock and Brittni Blagrave of Ackerly; two great grandsons, Sean Blagrave and Trevor Blagrave both of Ackerly; and one brother, Donald Allred of Ackerly.
