Miss Cassie Tharp was born in Davis County in 1840. She married George Carter, also of Davis county, and lived there many years. For the last thirty years her home was in Moulton. Comrade Carter, the husband, died September 13, 1913. Mrs. Carter died September 28, 1916, and the funeral was held at the Baptist church on Friday afternoon, Rev. Yount conducting the service. Burial at Oakland.

Mrs. Carter left two brothers, Coonrod Tharp and Milton Tharp; also children as follows: Mrs. Lizzie Carter, of Eldon; Joseph Carter, of Macon county, Mo.; Ola McCracken, of Bloomfield; Marshall Carter, of Macon county, Mo.; Henry Carter, of Moulton; A.B. Carter, of Macon county, Mo.; Frank W. Carter, of Dombey, Okla.; Anna Sparks, of Centerville; Stella Geisler, Lund, Nebr.

Deceased was a kind neighbor and a devoted Baptist nearly all her long life.
