Death notice - Fremont Weekly Tribune, 15 Dec. 1881.
Died - In Wahoo, on Dec. 6th, 1881, of typhoid Pneumonia, Mrs. Mratha Carter, aged 47 years. Mrs. Carter was a sister of Mrs. J. A. Smith and recently came to Kansas. She leaves quite a large number of children to mourn her loss. To the relatives and friends of the deceased, we extend our sympathy and condolences.

Carter - at the residence of her brother-in-law, J. A. Smith, on Tuesday, December 7th, 1881, of typhoid fever, Mrs. Martha Carter, aged 47 years. This lady after an illness of only one week departed this life, leaving a family of children to mourn her loss. She had but recently come to this place on a visit to her sister.
