"Regarding cautions made on the findagrave website regarding naming of a father for RICHARD BALDWIN, findagrave #48691724: I offer conclusions made by this impressive researcher, who reports totally from primary sources in England. He wrote in 1884, but I found no more recent articles on the subject in the Register.

Source: Col. Joseph L. Chester, of London, Eng., regarding 20 years of research on the Baldwin Family of Aston, Clinton County, Bucks. NEHGS Register 38 (1884): 160-293.
"(I)n pursuing my investigations I have taken full abstracts of every Baldwin will and record of administration existing in the two Registries named, beyond which is would be useless to go, as the wills of Buckinghamshire people were proved in one of these two courts. I have also examined every reference to the name at the Public Record Office, and obtained all there is to be had from the Patent Rolls, Fines, Subsidies, Inquisitions, Chancery Proceedings, et cetera. I have also visited Aston Clinton and obtained every entry of the name of Baldwin from the Parish Registers. . . . I have only to add that, as I shall give my authority of every statement made, the entire account may be unhesitatingly relied upon."
Col. Chester continues with findings of all named Baldwin in early records, citing "dead ends" and the lack of proof to connect the family in an unbroken line—hence, he proposes "a new Baldwin pedigree." He says:
"(Due to lack of certainty) I prefer to commence the new pedigree with two brothers, Richard and John, concerning whom the testimony is positive, leaving the possible identifications of their progenitors, as it must be left, to the chance of accident."
He proposes starting with: RICHARD BALDWIN, likely the elder of the two brothers, who made his will at Aston Clinton "16 Jan. 6 Edw. VI [1552-3]," in the sixth year of the reign of King Edward the 6th, which was proved 21 Feb 1552-3. **This Richard Baldwin is memorial number 48691724 . "

I personally have reviewed:
4-29-17 - Baldwin Sir John English Origins of New England Families Second Series Vol.I page 71.

4-29-17 The Baldwins of Dundrige, Chesham In Co. Bucks by A. Vere Woodman, F.S.A. of Wing Bucks (which as far as I could tell did not list a father for Richard.

Per Sharon Marshall (fag member 47740199) "There is a book "Baldwin genealogy" written by Charles Candee Baldwin. There is a section of said book titled Richard of Bucks County, England. This book cites court records that say the will of this Richard was proven on Feb. 21, 1552/53 by his executors." Kathleen Werner - member # 47799732 provided information that conflicts with the above parentage of Richard Baldwin.
"I have been researching Richard and have found that he was not the son of John. "Richard BALDWIN b. about 1503 of Aston Clinton, co. Bucks, England m. about 1526 Ellen APUKE. His father is NOT the Sir John BALDWIN that many books mention. "Sir John BALDWIN had no male heirs. His properties were acquired prior to 1506 and were settled upon his wife Ann, who survived him and held it in dower. It was inherited by Thomas PAKINGTON, son of his daughter Agnes and Robert PAKINGTON. Agnes became a widow and her 17 yr. old son rented the Dundridge Manor to a Richard BALDWIN who was probably a rich relative."
