A native of Richmond, VA, he was a retired manufacturers representative with Midwest Electric Co. He was a deacon, ruling elder and trustee at his church and was honored for outstanding service at church in 1983. He was treasurer of Buffalo Cemetery Corp. He was chairman of the building committee for the renovation for the church sanctuary.
Surving are wife, Lavinia W. Fishburne; daughters, Magie E. Fishburne of Raleigh, Lavinia "Vinnie" Gordy of Greensboro; one grandson, Thomas E. Gordy of Greensboro and one niece, Mrs. Ann F. Duthie of Cary.
Edward was the founder of Lighting Supply Company in Greensboro, NC and owned several coin operated laundrys in Greensboro.
Edward and Lavinia owned the last ocean front house on Sand Dollar Lane on the north end of Shell Island in Wrightsville Beach, NC. There was nothing but sand dunes from their home to Rich Inlet.
