Magdalene H. McDaniel, age 81, of Stanley, died on Friday, April 28, 2006, at her home.
She was born Mary Magdalene Hilliard on Nov. 2, 1924 in Stanley, Va. to the late Grafton B. and Mary Nancy Hilliard. She married Dillard McDaniel on May 9, 1943. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1970.
She is survived by two sons, Jackie D. McDaniel and wife, Kay, of Stanley, Douglas A. McDaniel and wife, Tammy, of Shenandoah; seven daughters, Judy Long, Paula Morris, Janey McDaniel, Bobbie Hilliard and husband, Ronnie all of Stanley, Mary Parlett and husband, Stewart, of Luray, Jeanne Stepp, Kay Crawford and husband, Greg, of Shenandoah; 12 grandchildren, Beth Breeden, Brian Long, Christy McDaniel, Shannon Lafy, Derek McDaniel, Jackie Stepp, Michael Rucker, Brandy Strickler, Matthew Barrack, Stephanie Morris, April McDaniel and Ashley McDaniel; 10 great-grandchildren, Lauren Breeden, Ayden Long, Cassy Painter, Chad Turner, Lindsey Turner, Taylor Parsell, Kennedy Strickler, Gunnar Strickler, Ryan Comer and Griffin Johnson; two sisters, Naomi Shuler of Shenandoah and Ruby DiScala of Stanley; three loving caregivers, Nina Good, Clara Kaminski and Kay Basnight.
She was preceded in death by three children, David W. McDaniel, Connie Barrack, and Janet Lynne McDaniel. a son-in-law; a grandson, Rodney W. Cave; two sisters, Alma Painter and Pauline Stroupe and three brothers, Grafton, Earl and Hoover Hilliard.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Luray.
