son of Isaac Van Duzer and Martha Tusten (daughter of Col. Benjamin Tusten and Julia Conkling)

During the war with Great Britain, Isaac was drafted at Sugar Loaf Mountain on August 18, 1814 and discharged Nov 26, 1814 at Brooklyn Heights. He served in Capt Benjamin Dunning's Company, Lieut Col Jonathan Varian's Regt New York militia. According to his claim for Bounty Land for this service, he was at the time a farmer and currier; was a little over 5 feet, dark brown hair, grey eyes and a fair complexion.
