"James Vanduzer, (father of Henry C. Vanduzer, now of Watkins) was one of the prominent early settlers of Tyrone, and held a high place in the estimation of its people. He was born Feb. 14th 1781, in Goshem, Orange county, N. Y., where the family for three generations were noted for general worth and respectability. From Orange county, the pioneer cam to Romulus, Seneca county, and from there, in 1825, to Tyrone, and purchased the "Young farm," where John Young, the father of Brigham Young, the Mormon leader, then resided, and where Brigham, a fanciful, dreamy and indolent youth, passed his early years. James Vanduzer sold the Young farm after a time and purchased one near that of Obadiah Beach, where he died at an advanced age, nearly 80 years. - Watkins Express, Thur. Apr. 30, 1891.
