ARTHUR LORD BURR

Former Alaska resident Arthur Lord Burr died peacefully April 15, 1999, in American Fork, Utah. He was 83.

Services were held earlier this month at Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork. Burial was at Murray City Cemetery in Murray, Utah.

Mr. Burr was born April 9, 1916, in Riverton, Utah, to Arthur Ephriam and Mary Alice Lord Burr, the first of six siblings. He was raised in Riverton and Park City.

He married Ila Cloe Barnes in the Salt Lake Latter-day Saints Temple on Oct. 10, 1938. They lived in Anchorage from 1953 to 1980, rearing their family there. He was a former apartment manager and owner.

Mr. Burr was a kind and gentle man, according to his family, and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "(His) devotion had a profound influence upon them and their children and grandchildren," his family said. "That devotion never wavered, no matter how long or hard the road. He was extremely ambitious, such a hard worker. He was creative and inventive, being able to do anything."

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ardith and Larry Johnson of Mesa, Ariz., Richard and Anni Burr of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Carolyn and Rod Park of Bluffdale, Utah, and Delbert and Cecile Burr of Anchorage; siblings, Roy and Lenna; 27 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
