Steele, Mo. May 4--Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for H. Buford Spence at the Methodist church in Steele by the pastor, the Rev. H.S. Holley, who was assisted by the Rev. J.W. Cunningham, pastor of the local Baptist church. Interment was in Mt. Zion cemetery.
Mr. Spence, who was 42 years of age, died of a heart attack early Friday evening while his wife and children were attending a school play at the high school auditorium. Upon returning home they found Mr. Spence, who had retired several hours earlier, had been dead for some time. He had been in apparently good health, but had suffered from heart attacks before.
Mr. Spence lived at Osceola, Ark., for a number of years and was a member of the American Legion and a war veteran. He once served as a deputy sheriff and constable and was a cotton buyer.
Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Katheline Spence; two step-children, Bertie and Herbert McBride; his mother, Mrs. H.A. Spence; a sister, Mrs. I.M. Greer of Harrisburg, Ark.; and a brother, Roy W. Spence of Little Rock, Ark.
