John Leroy Roberts, Abner Roberts, and James Thomas Roberts were probably born in Monroe County, Alabama and were the sons of Thomas Lamar Roberts, b, 1793 SC and Jerusha Brannan. She died after 1830.

Thomas Lamar married 2nd Catherine McColl. They had at least 9 children: Daniel, Ira, Thomas Lamar, Jerusha Isabella, Anne Marie, Eliza J., Christiana, Sam McColl, and Duncan F. Roberts. Most of Thomas Lamar and Catherine's descendants are buried in Monroe County, Alabama. This family is on the 1850 Monroe County, AL census.

The three older children, John Leroy, Abner, and James Thomas Roberts came to Washington County, Texas by abt 1860 and purchased land.

John Leroy Roberts was born abt June 1821-1823 probably in Monroe County, Alabama. In Washington Co., TX, January 3, 1867, he married the sister of Dr. George Red (who built the historic "Red House"), Mary Jemima C. Red. He farmed his property near the Gay Hill community. They had two daughters. John, Mary J. C. and one of their daughters are buried in Oak Rest Cemetery, near Gay Hill, Brenham, Washington County, Texas.

Abner married Julia Ann Alabama Guyton in 1863, Washington County. She was a daughter of Isaac and Passy Guyton. Abner and Julia were farmers. They had 5 Children, 4 living past young adulthood. They are both buried in the Guyton-Roberts Cemetery (Roberts Cem. #2) with 3 of their children.

James Thomas Roberts ("Uncle Jimmy") was born June 2, 1827 probably in Monroe Co. Alabama. He never married. He was a Mason and a farmer. He died in his sister Julia's home on August 24, 1912 and is buried near his brother, Abner in the Guyton-Roberts Cemetery (aka Roberts Cem. #2) on Old Navasota Road.

The many friends of Mr. Abner Roberts, who resided five miles east of Brenham on the Washington road for the past fifty years, will learn of the death with deep regret. He died Sunday night and his funeral took place on Monday at the family burying ground and near his home. He was 78 years of age and leaves a wife and four children, all of whom are grown.
