Arthur was the son of Duera Lee "Jack" and Veda Mae (Aytes) Stennett.
Art served as a Navy gunner during World War II on board Liberty ships in the Pacific and was awarded the Victory, American and Asiatic Pacific Campaign medals. Art also served in the Army with the 189th Field Artillery Battalion of the 45th Infantry Field division during the Korean War and was awarded the Army Occupation, Korean Service, Bronze Campaign Star and United Nations Service Medals.
Art and Georgia Lee Keel were married on December 24, 1946 in Iowa Park, Texas. In 1947 they moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma where Art began work at the Blackwell Zinc Plant where he worked for 25 years before being transferred to St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for the AMAX Zinc Co. until his retirement in 1986. He was a long time member of both the VFW and American Legion. He loved wood carving, working in his shop and reading western novels.
Georgia preceded him in death after 50 years of marriage on June 2, 1997. Art was also preceded in death by one brother, James Stennett of Olney on June 17, 2007.
