G.R. Bishop married Flora Lee Morgan on 1 October 1913, in Olney, sitting in a buggy in front of City Hall. Those present for the wedding were Viola and Minta Jones, cousins of Mrs. Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Willis and Miss Fay Wells.

His family moved to Young County in 1907. He had never met his wife until 1911 at a party in the True Community.

The couple moved to Olney in 1956. They had lived in Young County, in and near Newcastle since 1907.

There were eight children born to this family: Mrs. Herman Wages, Harvey, Jack and Kenneth Bishop, Mrs. Ed Tate, Mrs. W.B. Tate, Mrs. Leonard Short and Mrs. Glen Parker; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The Bishops are very proud of their large, Christian family.
