Thomas Bannon, the eldest son of Patrick Bannon, Currie, Murray county, died of consumption at the home of his cousin, J.P. O'Leary, a few days after his arrival from Indian Territory where he spent several months. The long journey was very wearisome and seemed to hasten his death. Deceased was born about twenty-six years ago. The earthly remains were accompanied to Tracy, Minnesota by his sister, Miss Isabelle Bannon;his uncle, Daniel F. * Hollywood; Mrs. George Ryan, his aunt; and several cousins. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery in Currie.

Murray County News November 1899

Died: At Newry, Freeborn county, Minnesota on the 13th of November, Thomas Bannon. The remains were brought here and buried under the auspices of the A.O.H.*, on Wednesday and was largely attended. Thomas Bannon was born near where Tepeotah now is on the 28th of October, 1872, and lived here until a few years ago, when he went West, living in Dakota, Wyoming and finally Arizona. He left there for his sister's at Newry some weeks ago, reaching there ready to die from that dread disease consumption. He was well known in this village and will be missed by a large circle of acquaintances.
Denny Leary was here from Russel, attending Thomas Bannon's funeral.
John and Andrew Leary accompanied the remains of Thomas Bannon from Newry and attended the funeral Wednesday.
*A.O.H.- Ancient Order of Hiberians- An Irish Catholic fraternal organization.
