Roy Chastain, 84, passed away February 14, 2010. He was a native of Blue Ridge, Ga. and lived most of his life in Savannah.

Surviving are Frances H. Chastain, his wife of 42 years; his sister Virginia Woody, children, Michael Chastain, Susan Jones, Susan Brookshire, Emory Geiger, Jr., Carey Geiger, and Cynthia Geiger; Seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He was a decorated World War II Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart for injuries received during the first wave attack on Iwo Jima in February, 1945. He was a member and Elder of Islands Christian Church since its founding. He retired from Southern Bell after 32 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, American Legion Post 184, the Fourth Marine Association and the Communication Workers of America.

Services were entrusted to Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors of Savannah, Georgia.
