Dec. 11, 1904-Aug. 16, 2004 Hazel May Edmiston, 99, Crawfordsville, died 5 p.m. Monday in Williamsburg Healthcare, Crawfordsville.Mrs. Edmiston taught English, Latin, drama and speech for more than 30 years at Ladoga, Wingate, Coal Creek and North Montgomery High School. She retired in 1972.Her memberships included Trinity United Methodist church, Crawfordsville, where she held many offices and taught Sunday school class for 65 years; St. James Lutheran Church, Darlington; Travel Study Club, National, Indiana and Montgomery County Retired Teachers associations; Friends of the Library; Montgomery County Historical Society; and Sugar Creek Travel Club. She was a Meals on Wheels volunteer.She was a 1922 graduate of Darlington, a 1924 graduate of Weidner Junior College, Mulberry, and a 1926 graduate of Indiana University. She participated in graduate work at Indiana and Purdue universities.She was born Dec. 11, 1904, at Darlington, to Franklin E. and Orrell Ruth Stinnette Harris. She married Carl Loland Edmiston on June 7, 1928, at Olney, Ill. He died May 9, 1948.Survivors include two sons, Jake, Crawfordsville, and John, Fairfield Bay, Ariz.; one brother, Cecil Harris, Phoenix, Ariz.; 12 granchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.One son, Jay Paul, and one brother, Hubert Harris, are deceased.Funeral services are scheduled 10:30 a.m. Friday in Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315 S. Washington St., with Dr. Phillip Collier officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.Memorials may be made to Indiana University School of Education, Bloomington.
