Joseph Alphonse Tanner - Pueblo Chieftain - January 1, 1989 - Joseph A. "Bus" or "Joe" Tanner, late of Pueblo, died Dec. 30, 1988, at a local nursing home.

Born Nov. 22, 1906, to James Wesley Tanner and Ora Francis Grimes in Weir, Kan. Joe a Pueblo resident since 1928. Mr. Tanner worked for the Nuckolls Packing Co. For 15 years and as manager of the Armored Motor Service for 25 years, retiring in 1969. Member of Silver State Lodge No. 95 and Southern Colorado Consistory No. 3.

Preceded in death by his wife, Emma Sullivan Tanner, Aug. 2, 1978, three brothers and three sisters. Siblings include Charles Tanner, Henry Gilbert Tanner, George L. Tanner, Lulu Tanner, Bula R. Tanner, and Hazel P. Tanner.

Mr. and Mrs. Tanner were married June 4, 1936, in Emporia, Kan. Graveside service, 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, Mountain View Cemetery. Block 5 with the Rev. Robert Timmons officiating.
