DALTON, VELVA (COFFEY) - age 98, went to be with the Lord July 13, 2012 at her home in Thorn Hill, TN. She was saved and baptized at the age of 17 and was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Will and Leodar Coffey; sister of the late John, Willard, Linda Coffey and Ina Atkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Nealius Dalton; sons, Kermit, Ray (Cecil) Dalton; daughter, Mary Ruth; step children and spouses, Claude (Myrtle), Carson (Georgia), Bill Paul (Lucy) Dalton, Katherine (Howard) Garland; grandsons, David and Lewis Dalton; sons-in-law, Jimmy Thomas and John Diamond. Survived by children: Edna (Delmar)Welch, Bernice Thomas, Coy (Earlene) Dalton, Jeanette (Elmer) Owens, Gary Wayne (Inez) Dalton, Elora (Joe) McAnally, L.C. (John) Shortridge; step daughter, Doris Diamond; step daughter-in-law, Lillie Southerland; brother, Charlie Coffey; special cousin and friend, Doris Laughner; 22 grandchildren. Her long life blessed her with six generations of other grandchildren and step grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Coffey Funeral Home in New Tazewell. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Russell, Rev. Robert Dalton, Rev. Lon Dalton officiating. Music by Linda Green. Burial will follow in the Davidson Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Coffey Funeral Home in charge. www.coffeyfh.com.
