Coffey, Rev. John T., age 75, was born March 19, 1915, passed away August 28, 1990. He professed faith in Christ at the Oak Hill Baptist Church as a young man. He was ordained as a minister in 1940, a veteran of World War II and a retired worker from a tobacco warehouse in Ohio. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Ohio at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Gambrell Coffey; parents, William Franklin and Leoda White Coffey; sister, Linda Coffey.
He is survived by 5 stepchildren; 2 sisters, Velva Dalton of Thorn Hill, TN; Ina Atkins of Rutledge, TN; brothers, Charlie Jeff Coffey of Miamisburg, Ohio and Jesse Willard Coffey of Dayton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and a host of other friends.
Funeral services were held at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell, TN with Rev. Eugene Dalton and Rev. Freddie Parker officiating. Pallbearers were Coy and Wayne Dalton, Elmer Owens, Frankie Atkins, Hug Atkins and Alvin White. Burial in Davidson Cemetery in Thorn Hill, TN.
Sadly missed by family and friends.John had one daughter.
