Herman L. Joneli died at his Everson home on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the age of 72.

He was born March 6, 1937 in Bellingham, to Herman P. and Georgia E. (Davie) Joneli. A lifelong Whatcom County resident, he graduated from Meridian High School in 1955 and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for eight years.

In 1964, Herm married Evelyn Johnson in Bellingham and together they dairy farmed on the Hemmi Road family homestead property. Active in his community, Herm served as secretary/treasurer of the Hemmi Road Water Association for 18 years and thoroughly enjoyed his time as a manager and a commissioner for the Ten Mile Cemetery.

He was actively involved as a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served, for a number of years, on the church council.

Graveside services will be conducted Friday, February 12, 12:30 p.m. at Ten Mile Cemetery followed by a 1:30 p.m. memorial service at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2530 Cornwall Ave. in Bellingham.

Memorials in Herm's name are suggested to: St. John's Lutheran Church, 2530 Cornwall Ave., or The Laurendeau Foundation, 2980 Squalicum Pkwy., both of Bellingham, WA 98225.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lynden.
