Short Illness is Fatal To Samuel L. Bartlett.

Samuel L. Bartlett, 75, retired Santa Fe employe and stone mason, died at 12:40 o'clock Saturday morning at his home, 626 South C. street. He had been quite active until he became ill last Wednesday.

Mr. Bartlett was born in Wheeling, W.V., and came to Arkansas City from Stillwater, Okla., 18 years ago. On June 8, 1892, he married Miss Jessie Bliss in Clay Center, Kans. Although he had been retired for ten years he was able to work in his garden until his recent illness.

Surviving relatives are his wife: two sons, Frank Bartlett and Herbert Bartlett, both of Arkansas City; a daughter, Mrs. Verona Thompson of Los Angeles; a brother, Thomas Bartlett, of Arkansas City; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Three children preceded him in death.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The Morris-Crates Mortuary is in charge.
