Myrtle L. Varner, 101, formerly of Bellwood, died Sun., Feb. 7 at Homewood, Martinsburg. She was born in Portage, to James M. & Anna M. (Collobert) Corre. She married Ralph A. Varner Sept. 14, 1929, in Cumberland, MD. He died Jan. 14, 1995. Surviving are sons: Herschell D. 'Pat' & wife, Nancy, Roaring Spring and Ralph A. 'Barney' II, Selinsgrove; 6 grandchildren: Herschell D. Varner II, Dwayne Varner, Cynthia Speck, Vicki Roudabush, Rachel Smith and Rebecca Geipel; 16 gr. grandchildren and 3 gr. gr. grandchildren. Predeceased by daughter in-law, Martha J. Varner. Myrtle was a graduate of West Chester Normal School. She retired as an elementary school teacher at Bellwood-Antis School District and member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Bellwood. Also, Order of the Eastern Star, Tyrone, Chapter 288.
