Clifford J. Steverson, 72, of Alma, died Saturday (Feb. 6, 2010) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a native of Willacoochee. He lived in Alma for the past 27 years. He was a son the late Coley Steverson and Lettie Fussell Steverson and was also preceded in death by five brothers, George Washington, Alex David "Dave", Jack, Leroy, James "Jim" and Felton Steverson; two sisters, Yvonne Thrift, Bessie Mae Smith; and a step-grand daughter, Shanna Sweat.
He worked as an upholsterer for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Sweat Steverson, of Alma; a son, Shad Steverson, of Waycross; two daughters, Bonita Bond (husband Randy), of Dixie Union, Marina Reynolds (husband Shannon), of Glennville; mother of his children, Elda Fosteen Steverson, of Dixie Union; two step-sons, Bruce Sweat (wife Robin), of Callahan, Terry Sweat (wife Cheryle), of Alma; two sisters, Lounette Sams, of Woodstock, Anne Courson, of Waycross; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with the Rev. Lowell Lee officiating and the eulogy by Gerald Douglas.
Interment will follow in the Hephzibah Church Cemetery in Ware County.
The family will receive friends this evening between 6 and 9 at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Greg, Jeffrey, Webster and Timmy Steverson, Mike Lee and Coley Thrift. The staff of the Alma Dialysis Clinic and all others in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.
Crosby Funeral Home of Alma is in charge of all the arrangements.
