Henry Howell was born to parents, Phillip Howell & Elizabeth (Fox) Howell.

Henry was born in Tennessee, where he received a subscription school education and was reared and married.

Howell immigrated to Arkansas on a flat-boat, settling first on Lee's Creek near Van Buren, where he lived five years.

Henry Howell was the founder of Uniontown, Arkansas where he farmed until his death in 1883. He was constable and deputy sheriff.

Henry donated land for the Uniontown Cemetery where his infant son was first person to be buried there. Headstone reads "Infant son of Henry". No dates given. Martha was known as "Granny Howell".

Henry Howell Sr. married Martha LOWE and they had 9 children:

(1) Infant son Howell 1st person buried at Uniontown cemetery.
(2) Archibald Howell, born about 1833 in Greene Co. Tn. Died 1864 in Uniontown, Arkansas. Married Rachel Harriet Burchfield about 1854 in Crawford Co. Arkansas.
(3) Andrew Wallace "Andy" Howell - born 6-29-1835 in Greene Co. Tn. Died about 1912 in Crawford Co. Arkansas. Married Mintie Remy.
(4) Margaret Howell - born about 1837 in Greene Co. Tn. Married (1) Nick Carter; (2) J.T.Morton in 1863.
(5) Catherine "Kate" Howell - born about 1839 in Greene Co. Tn. Married John Burchfiel.
(6) Thomas "Tom" Howell - born about 1843 in Greene Co. Tn. Died 1929 Crawford Co. Arkansas. Married Mary Jane Morton.
(7) ♥ Richard "Adam" Howell (GrtGrt GrandPa) born about 1845 in Greene Co. Tn. Died 1919 Long, Oklahoma (Sequoyah County). Married Harriett Elizabeth BAKER.
(8) Henry Howell Jr. - born 12-20-1847 Greene Co. Tn. Married Sarah Jackson in 1862. *
(9) Emily R. "Emma" Howell born 1851 in Greene Co. Tn. Died 1925 in Atoka Co. Oklahoma. Married Zacharial "Zack" Walters.
