Henry Howell was born to parents, Henry and Martha (Lowe) Howell.

Henry received a common-school education, and lived with his father until after coming to this county.

In 1862 he married Sarah Jackson, a native of Illinois, and daughter of William Jackson.

When sixteen he enlisted in the confederate army, served under Capt. Brooks about one year, and participated in the battle of Fayetteville.

He moved to Oklahoma in 1894.

After returning home and farming ten years, he engaged in the mercantile business, and is now doing a flourishing business in connection with his farming. He owns 160 acres, eighty of which he cultivates, and has also a cotton-gin, grist and saw-mill.

Mr. Howell is a Democrat and Royal Arch Mason. He is a public spirited man, and interests himself in the educational advancement of the county.
