ADRIAN - Jerry Wayne "Billy Mack" Briggs, 73, formerly of Adrian, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, in Plano.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Adrian First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega by Boxwell Brothers at Vega.

Billy Mack was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Ralls to W.C. and Easter Belle "Woods" Briggs. He had worked as a rancher his entire life. He had been a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; a brother, Jimmy Briggs; and a son, William Briggs.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Briggs of Plano and Mark Briggs of Temple; two daughters, Brenda Briggs and Beverly Briggs, both of Belton; his mother, Easter Belle "Woods" Briggs of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home in Vega.

Mr. Briggs; served on the Adrian School Board, served on the Oldham County ASCS Committee, served on the Deaf Smith County ASCS Committee, served on the Oldham County Water Conservation District Board, served on the Adrian Wheat Growers Board, served on the Hereford Grain Corporation Board, served on the nominating committee for Amarillo Production Credit Association, acted as a Loan Collateral Appraiser for Amarillo National Bank, was an adult leader for 4-H and FFA and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Adrian.
